Introducing our Apprentices - Rachel Mason
Published:
2020 saw Ducketts employing apprentices for the first time. In January, Rachel Mason joined us as our Business Administrator apprentice.
Many of you will have already met or spoken with Rachel when you have visited or telephoned the office but we think that now is the right time to introduce Rachel to a wider audience and to get her views on the benefits of doing an apprenticeship.
1- What made you want to do an apprenticeship to begin with?
When I left college, I wasn’t sure about which career path I wanted to take, and thought that an apprenticeship would be much more beneficial to me than going to university.
2- Why did you choose Ducketts?
After doing some research, I thought that it would be a great company to be a part of and I knew that I would gain a lot from being here.
3- What have you learned since you started your apprenticeship?
A lot! I had never worked in this kind of sector before, or even in an office environment, so everything was brand new to me. I am still learning new things every day.
4- What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy going on walks and doing a bit of baking.
5- Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
As an established member of the Practice Management Team at Ducketts.
6- What do you enjoy most about the job?
The people! Everyone in the office is so nice, it was a lovely environment to be welcomed into. I always enjoy meeting the clients too. It's always interesting to meet new people and learn about what they do.
7- What advice would you give to someone who’s thinking about doing an apprenticeship?
Go for it! There are no disadvantages to an apprenticeship. You work towards a qualification, like University, but you’re already in a job and working while you’re learning. It’s a win-win.
