Meet The Team - Phil Taylor

Introducing Phil Taylor - a Senior Advisor in our Business Growth Team, who joined Ducketts over 5 years ago. Phil brings a wealth of experience from his background in commercial banking, together with a passion for variety and problem-solving. His analytical mindset, love for continuous learning, and dedication to client success make him a valued part of the team.

What’s your role, and what do you enjoy most about it?

Senior Advisor in the Business Growth team.  The variety.

What’s the best thing about being part of the Ducketts Team?

A great team, great clients and variety of work.

Describe your job in 3 words.

Analysis, Advising, Action.

What has been the most significant learning experience in your career?

I realised a long time ago that I learn far more from things that go wrong than go right.  But we never fail, just learn and go again.

Why did you join Ducketts?

I’d seen how Ducketts operated over a number of years, I knew quite a few of the team and it was a privilege to be offered a role here.

What’s your favourite film?

I’m not a film fan, probably only watched about 20 in my life – of those – Shawshank Redemption, Witness, Philomena.

When you were young, what did you want to be when you were older?

A Quantity Surveyor.

If you could have dinner with any historical or famous figure, who would it be and why?

Alex Ferguson – I’m not a Manchester United fan but he was a fantastic leader and achieved great success.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received about teamwork?

It’s the receiver (not the giver) of communication who determines whether the communication is successful.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Fish.

What’s your guilty pleasure TV show or movie?

Last of the Summer Wine - still love it.

You’re stranded on a desert island. What three items would you bring?

Walking boots, cider and streamed music.

If you could instantly become an expert in anything, what would it be?

Accountancy!
